Clearwater Health Insurance, Settled Before the Deadline

A Practice Organized Around Key Dates

Health insurance problems usually come down to timing. A person misses the December cutoff for coverage starting in January, lets the 60-day special enrollment window close after a job ends, or rushes into a plan and later learns their surgeon is out of network. Our practice is set up to get ahead of those dates, so you decide while every option is still open.

You can meet us at our Clearwater office or over phone and video, whichever suits you. We compare and enroll health, dental, vision and accident plans. We walk through how each one pays, from the deductible to coinsurance to the out-of-pocket maximum, so you know the cost of a hard month before you ever have one.

Coverage We Help You Compare

Most of our work is individual health insurance, family health insurance and ACA Marketplace plans, along with checking whether a premium tax credit applies to you. We also handle dental insurance, vision insurance and accident insurance, which work next to a medical plan and cover what it leaves out. Every service page explains how the coverage is put together, what it pays and where the fine print tends to sit.

    Individual Health Insurance

Coverage you hold yourself: we compare deductibles, networks and drug lists across multiple carriers so you can enroll before a gap opens.

  • Agent at a wooden meeting table pointing a pen at a printed plan summary while two clients and a third person in a denim jacket look on, seen from behind

    Family Health Insurance

One plan for parents and kids, chosen by comparing family deductibles, networks and premiums from several carriers before a deadline forces the decision.

  • Woman and man seen from behind at an office desk, she points at a monitor showing a plan comparison table, with beach pier photos on the wall

    ACA Marketplace Plans

Marketplace coverage sized to your income estimate, with tax credits, metal tiers and networks laid out side by side before the enrollment deadline.

  • Agent in a black jacket points to a coverage tier chart on a plan brochure while a client in a teal shirt sits across a dark wood desk in an office

    Dental Insurance

Dental plans compared on the details that decide your cost: waiting periods, annual maximums, coinsurance tiers and whether your dentist is in network.

  • Two women seen from behind at a dark wood office desk; one holds a plan summary sheet while the other points to a section with a pen, with a lamp and plant behind

    Vision Insurance

Vision plans compared by exam copay, frame and contact allowance, lens coverage and benefit timing, so you can plan glasses and exams into your budget.

  • Over-the-shoulder view of two people at a wooden meeting table, one holding a clipboard and pen, the other in a cream sweater with hands folded beside a dark folder

    Accident Insurance

A supplemental plan that pays fixed cash amounts for covered injuries, so a fracture or ambulance ride does not land on your deductible alone.

How a Consultation Goes

Most clients need one or two conversations. This is how it runs from the first call to your first ID card.

  1. 1

    A short opening call

We note ages, your county, an income estimate, your doctors and your medications. If you have a plan now, have its summary of benefits nearby.

  2. 2

    Options set side by side

We pull plans from several carriers and list each one's premium, deductible, copays, out-of-pocket maximum and network. We flag the ones that include your doctors and cover your medications on their formulary.

  3. 3

    A clear recommendation

We point to the plan that fits the year you described and tell you why, including what you give up. If keeping your current coverage makes more sense, we say so.

  4. 4

    Enrollment and a follow-up check

We complete the application together on a call and confirm when coverage starts. When your first bill and ID cards arrive, we check that they match the plan you chose.

Reasons Clients Plan Their Coverage With Us

Each health plan fixes a price and a rulebook for twelve months. We go over that rulebook with you before you sign, instead of after the first bill arrives.

  1. 01

    Several carriers, one independent agency

As a licensed independent insurance agency, we are not limited to a single insurer's plans. We put options from several carriers in front of you and measure each the same way: monthly cost, deductible, the most you could spend in a year and which doctors take it.

  2. 02

Our pay comes from the carrier

We earn a commission from the carrier you pick, not a fee from you. Your premium matches what you would pay signing up on your own, so the comparison is added information that costs you nothing.

  3. 03

We start with your year, not a product

Our first questions are about your doctors, your prescriptions and what the coming twelve months look like. A planned operation, a pregnancy or a child getting braces changes which deductible makes sense, so we want to know up front.

  4. 04

Your cost for the whole year, not just the monthly bill

For some people, a low premium with a large deductible ends up costing more across twelve months than a mid-priced plan. We sketch a realistic easy year and hard year so your budget works either way.

  5. 05

Sign-up timed so coverage never lapses

Your enrollment date sets your start date. We watch the open enrollment and special enrollment cutoffs alongside you so the new plan picks up the day the old one stops.

What Moves the Price of a Health Plan

Under the ACA, insurers can only set individual premiums using a short list of factors, and your medical history is not one of them. Your total cost, though, depends on more than the premium. These are the pieces we look at with you.

Every figure we show comes from the carriers' current filed rates for your age, area and family, and you see it in writing before you decide. We do not quote a number until we have those details.

Age and tobacco use
Premiums rise with age on a set curve, and carriers in Florida may add a tobacco surcharge. Each person on a family plan is rated separately, then added together.
Where you live
Rates are set by county rating area, and carrier choices and networks differ from one county to the next. Pinellas County has its own lineup, which is why we quote by your county.
Metal tier and deductible
Bronze, silver, gold and platinum plans trade premium against cost sharing. Bronze keeps the monthly bill low and the deductible high, gold does the reverse, and silver is the only tier that can carry extra cost-sharing reductions for lower incomes.
Network type
HMO and EPO plans usually cost less because they limit you to an in-network list of doctors and hospitals. PPO plans pay something outside the network, and that flexibility is priced in.
Income and family size
On Marketplace plans, your estimated income and the number of people in your tax family decide the size of any premium tax credit. A wrong estimate can mean paying some of the credit back at tax time, so we help you project it carefully.

Serving Clearwater and Pinellas County

We work with individuals and families across Clearwater and the surrounding area, including Largo, Dunedin, Safety Harbor, Belleair and Palm Harbor. We also help clients in Pinellas Park, Seminole, Oldsmar, South Highpoint and Harbor Bluffs. Because consultations run by phone and video as well as in person, distance is never the deciding factor.

First Questions We Hear From Clients

Something not covered here? (727) 594-4589

Do you charge for helping me?

No. There is no fee for the consultation, and our commission is paid by the carrier you pick. Your premium is the same as if you enrolled on your own, so the comparison adds nothing to your cost.

When can I sign up for a health plan?

Open enrollment for individual and Marketplace plans comes each fall, usually November 1 to January 15, and signing up by December 15 generally means coverage begins January 1. Outside that window you need a qualifying life change, such as losing job-based coverage, moving to a different county, marrying, or adding a child through birth or adoption. That change opens a special enrollment period, which usually gives you 60 days to pick a plan.

Can the Marketplace bring my premium down?

It depends on the income you expect for the coverage year and the number of people in your tax family. Many people learn they are eligible for a premium tax credit. We build the estimate with you and explain how the credit is reconciled on your tax return, so a raise or job change does not catch you off guard.

Can I keep my current doctors?

Yes, if they are in network for the plan you pick. We search each carrier's directory for your doctors and preferred hospital before recommending anything. If a doctor accepts only a PPO, we show what that extra flexibility costs per month.

How do the deductible and the out-of-pocket limit work together?

Think of a plan year as having two marks. Until you reach the first one, the deductible, most in-network services are on you. Past it, the plan pays part and you pay copays or coinsurance. Once your spending reaches the second mark, the out-of-pocket limit, the plan pays for in-network care in full for the rest of the year. We set your budget around both so a rough year stays as manageable as an ordinary one.

Does a health plan include dental and vision?

Adult dental and vision are usually left out of individual medical plans, while children's dental and vision are often built in. Stand-alone dental insurance and vision insurance help pay for cleanings, fillings, eye exams and lens allowances. Many dental plans have a waiting period before major work like crowns is covered, so signing up early pays off.

What should I have ready for the first call?

Birth dates for everyone to be covered, your county, a rough income figure for the year, your doctors and your medications. If you have a plan now, its summary of benefits helps us compare fairly.
