ACA Marketplace Plans in Clearwater
We compare Marketplace plans from multiple carriers, estimate your premium tax credit from a realistic income figure, and show what each plan's deductible and out-of-pocket maximum mean for your budget. You decide well before the deadline instead of picking in a rush.

How Marketplace coverage works and who it suits
Marketplace plans are individual and family policies bought through the federal exchange that Florida relies on. All of them include the same essential health benefits, and carriers cannot refuse you or raise your price over a preexisting condition. The differences lie in the premium, the deductible, the network and the formulary tier each drug lands on.
This route usually makes the most sense if you work for yourself, are between jobs, retired before Medicare or have an employer with no affordable group plan. It counts most when your income might earn a premium tax credit, since that credit only applies to plans purchased on the exchange.
The carrier you pick pays us, so our review adds nothing to your cost. When an off-exchange plan or something on our Individual Health Insurance page is the better fit, we tell you.

The work we take on
- 01
Projecting income for your credit
The credit depends on what you expect to earn next year, not on your last tax return. We go over wages, business profit and any other income to land on a close figure. Guessing too low can mean repaying credit at tax time.
- 02
Comparing metal tiers
Bronze, silver and gold balance premium against cost sharing in different ways. We set them side by side by deductible, copays and out-of-pocket maximum so you see the yearly cost at light, moderate and heavy use.
- 03
Checking for cost-sharing reductions
When your income is in the qualifying range, silver plans come with smaller deductibles and copays that bronze and gold do not offer. We point out when a silver plan beats a bronze one that only looks cheaper.
- 04
Looking up your doctors
Referrals and out-of-network care work differently under HMO, EPO and PPO plans. Before you sign up, we confirm whether your doctors and hospitals are in each network.
- 05
Checking drug lists
We find your medications on every carrier's formulary and note their tier, because a higher-tier drug can eat up more than a smaller premium saves.
- 06
Signing up and staying in touch
We go through the application with you over the phone, make sure the first premium payment goes through so coverage starts, and help you report changes in income or family size during the year.
Questions about ACA Marketplace Plans?
Call(727) 594-4589Signs it is time to look at Marketplace coverage
Your job coverage is ending
Losing employer coverage opens a special enrollment period, generally 60 days. Starting early avoids a gap between the old plan and the new one.
Your income has changed
A raise, a slow year in your business or a move to part-time work changes your tax credit. Updating it mid-year keeps your monthly premium and your tax bill in line.
Open enrollment is a few weeks out
Plans, networks and formularies change every year. Reviewing in early fall gives you time to compare before your current plan simply renews.
Your premium jumped at renewal
Auto-renewal keeps you in the same plan even when a similar one now costs less. A fresh comparison often turns up a better match.
Your family is growing or shrinking
Marriage, a birth, adoption or a child aging off your plan are qualifying events. Our Family Health Insurance page covers how we size coverage for more than one person.
How a Marketplace review works
- 1
A short first call
We ask who needs coverage, their ages, tobacco use, expected income and which doctors and medications matter. Most of this takes a few minutes by phone.
- 2
Side-by-side options
We pull plans from multiple carriers and show each one's premium after the tax credit, deductible, out-of-pocket maximum and network type. You can review them with us by phone, by video or at our office.
- 3
A yearly budget, not just a premium
We add up what each plan would likely cost over a full year at your expected use. That number is usually more useful than the monthly premium alone.
- 4
Application and first payment
Once you choose, we complete the application together on the phone, answering each question as it comes up. Then we confirm the binder payment went through, because coverage does not start until that first premium is paid.
- 5
A check-in before next year
Ahead of the next open enrollment we review your plan again, so changes to rates or networks do not catch you at renewal.
What drives Marketplace plan pricing
Your monthly bill is the carrier's full premium less any tax credit you earn. What you spend over the year also includes the deductible and copays you pay along the way. These factors shift both figures.
- Income and tax credit
- As your income goes up compared with the federal poverty level, the credit gets smaller. It is settled on your tax return using the 1095-A form the exchange mails you, so a sound estimate helps you avoid an unpleasant April.
- Age and tobacco use
- Older adults can be charged more, and Florida carriers may add a tobacco surcharge. Every person on the policy gets their own rate.
- Metal tier
- Bronze keeps premiums low and deductibles high, while gold reverses it. Silver falls in the middle and is the only tier that offers cost-sharing reductions.
- Network type
- HMO plans with tighter networks tend to be priced below PPO plans that cover part of out-of-network care.
- Rating area and carrier
- Each geographic rating area has its own premiums, and carriers price the same tier differently, so Clearwater plans with almost the same benefits can differ a lot in cost.
Common Marketplace questions
What is the window for signing up for a Marketplace plan?
Open enrollment usually lasts from November 1 through January 15, and enrolling by December 15 generally gets you coverage on January 1. At other times you need a qualifying life change, such as losing other coverage, moving to a new area, marrying, or welcoming a child by birth or adoption.
Do you charge for your help?
No. The consultation is free, and your premium is identical whether you sign up yourself or with us. Our pay comes from the carrier you select.
What happens if my income ends up higher or lower than my estimate?
Any credit applied to your premium in advance is settled when you file your federal return. If you earn more than estimated, you may owe some of it back. If you earn less, you may get the difference as a bigger refund. Let us know when your pay shifts and we can adjust the estimate during the year to keep that difference small.
Should I avoid bronze plans?
Not necessarily. Bronze can make sense if you seldom need care and have money set aside for a large deductible. If you visit doctors often or fill prescriptions every month, silver or gold frequently comes out cheaper across the year.
Is adult dental and vision part of a Marketplace plan?
Usually not, since adult dental and vision are not required benefits. Lots of clients buy them separately, and our Dental Insurance and Vision Insurance pages explain how.
